Before the dawn of the 17th and centuries, coiled springs were mainly the basic raw material used in the developing of the primitive early timepieces. This was basically noticed in Italy and Germany through the works of the inventors of the era. Such coiled springs gave rise to the later watch inventions in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The basic Facts to remember
-    The 17th century saw the introduction of the minutes and seconds hands as the basic components of fashion watches that still had the traces of coiled springs. Gradually, the springs were replaced by more elaborate hands as time went on.
-    Wonderful crystals were also introduced to protect both the dial and the hands. This was indeed the origin of the future mineral crystal glasses that use to be scratch-free in most modern watches today.
-    However, the greatest invention that happened in the following 18th century was the invention of Jeweled bearings. This reduced friction and prolonged the life of the watch mechanisms of the period.
-    As time went on, various wonderful watch parts began to be introduced by various inventors and great men who later became progenitors of various watch brands in the history of fashion watches.
-    The greatest boost came during the industrial revolution that followed as the aftermath of the renaissance period.  Various firms started springing up in various cities especially in Switzerland which later became the home of various fashion watch brands and their originators.
In all, the 17th to 18th era was indeed the wonderful period that ignited the fire of fashion watch productions in diverse ways. Many inventors came up with their quality brands; there were also the introduction of wonderful features in the watches.
